Leg Vein Treatment (Sclerotheraphy)

Sclerotherapy is a simple, safe and effective way to treat varicose and spider veins. The non invasive treatment involves the Doctor injecting the vein with a sclerosing solution which simply causes the vein to collapse and to be absorbed. The sclerosant has an effect on the walls of the veins which causes them to fade away gradually over a period of up to 6 weeks after the procedure. The treatment is well tolerated and does not require the use of anaesthetic. After the treatment the use of compression stockings is required for a period of 1-2 weeks.

Who performs the treatment?

Dr Sally Buchan performs all sclerotherapy treatments. Dr Buchan achieved her Certificate of Sclerotherapy from the Australasian College of Phlebology in 2012. Dr Buchan will provide a full assessment and discuss with you the potential benefits of sclerotheraphy in an initial consultation prior to treatment.

Does Sclerotherapy hurt?

There is a little sting associated with each injection. The burning sensation lasts few seconds. Anaesthetic is not required for the treatment.

How many treatments are required?

It varies from individual to individual but typically 2 - 3 treatments are required for the best results. In patients with milder cases, 1 - 2 treatments will suffice.

How much does it cost?

A full assessment and initial consultation with the Doctor is $80.  Treatment costs are generally $400 per session.  A Medicare rebate is available on both consult and treatment to all Medicare card holders.

Facial Vein Treatment (VeinGogh)

VeinGogh is an effective way to treat cosmetically unacceptable conditions of Telangiectasia and spider veins. VeinGogh can safely treat any skin type, including tanned skin. VeinGogh instantly eliminates vessels and delivers results using unique Microbust Technology.

Who performs the treatment?

Dr Sally Buchan performs all VeinGogh treatments. Dr Buchan will provide a full assessment and discuss with you the potential benefits of VeinGogh in an initial consultation.

Does VeinGogh hurt?

Since the procedure uses a hair-thin probe inserted into the vessel, there can be a 'pinch' similar to a hair being removed.

How many treatments are required?

Generally only one treatment is necessary. However, depending on the severity of the condition, a follow-up treatment may be necessary.

Will the veins come back?

New veins may develop over time and will require retreatment.

What can I expect post-treatment?

The precise nature of the VeinGogh treatment limits the risk of over-treating, so there is little to no trauma to the skin. Following treatment, there will be some mild redness that is transient. Clients treated with VeinGogh can resume their normal activities immediately after their procedure. In addition, no bandages are required.
